Diversity, Equity and Inclusion:
Honoring Black Aviators | American Airlines

In 1964, Capt. Dave Harris joined American Airlines, becoming the first Black pilot for a major passenger airline. Sixty years later, American hosted its inaugural Legacy of Firsts event to honor him and the founding members of the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals.

My job was to capture the story in a way that would convey the magic in the room.

We developed a multi-platform content strategy that adapted the evening's footage and narrative for internal communications, social media, and press channels. Working with an external video agency, we shaped the post-event edit into something that could travel, and it did. The campaign earned national media attention and positioned American Airlines as a genuine leader in diversity storytelling, not just in aviation but across industries.

This is one of the pieces I'm most proud of.
