Making Herstory:
Empowering Women in the Skies | American Airlines

In 1921, Bessie Coleman became the first Black woman to earn a pilot's license. One hundred years later, American Airlines hosted the Bessie Coleman Aviation All-Stars Tour to honor her legacy.

The centerpiece was a flight operated entirely by an all-Black female crew, from the pilots and flight attendants to the cargo team and aviation maintenance technicians. Every single role on that flight was filled by a Black woman.

My job was to make sure the recap did the moment justice. We worked with a production agency to capture the energy, the significance, and the faces of the women who made it happen, and shaped it into something that could travel beyond that single flight.

This is a beautiful recap of the events and highlights this historic flight crew.
